The American Affluence Research Center's (AARC's) recent survey uncovered an interesting item regarding the preferences of affluent women and gifts - guess what - they want cash instead of gifts. The AARC's president stated in an interview that "its like they (women) don't have confidence that their husband is going to pick the right kind of clothes for them," - while this may be one factor influencing the preference for cash (and we believe a very minor one at that) the desire for cash versus a gift goes much deeper than clothing for a women, it speaks to what often makes women and men very different in how they view wealth and its benefits.

Yesterday was a beautiful fall day so I drove with a friend of mine to a small town in Iowa to see the Grotto of the Redemption. Over the years I have explored many outdoor artworks which have been created by people from all walks of life. They have no formal training but what they do have in common is the intense desire to create. For those of my readers in LA, the Watts Tower iis another example, and if you live in WI,The Concrete Garden is another. Words fall short when you come upon these treasures - how do you describe the passion and desire to create that burns for a lifetime in someone's soul. As I walked around this incredible, art space I began to think about the phenomenon of YouTube and the millions of people who create and post their ideas for the world to see. Why is YouTube happening today- and happening in such vast numbers from submissions all around the globe? And what does this have to do with women and WOM?

When I read an article about an airline offering free Sky Nannies that cater to the mom and her young travel companion's play, food and entertainment needs I almost fell out of my chair. In today's no pillow, no blanket, no snacks (and Pay Toilets if the airlines could figure out a way to do it) air travel mentality, the thought of an airline actually offering a service that moms, parents and of course the other "childless" passengers could cheer for got my attention.
